MANKATO, Minn. --- Minnesota State sophomore
Kevin Krieger has been named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for his efforts both on the court and in the classroom.
Krieger will now advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-American ballot. The CoSIDA Academic All-American Teams will be announced in March. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution. No student-athlete is eligible until he/she has completed one full calendar year at his/her current institution and has reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
A guard from Plainfield, Ill., Krieger has started in all 29 games this season and is averaging 16.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game, while shooting 49.7% from the field, which ranks eighth in the NSIC this season. Krieger has notched three double-doubles this season and has scored at least 20 points in nine games. Against Bemijdi State and Southwest Minnesota State, he recorded a career-high 30 points. Krieger owns a 3.85 GPA and is majoring in accounting.
Minnesota State continues play in the NSIC/Sanford Health Tournament on Saturday as it takes on the Minot State Beavers at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls. S.D. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
