Minneapolis, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's hockey program will take on the University of Minnesota at TCF Bank Stadium Friday, January 17 at 4:30 p.m., as part of the 2014 Hockey City Classic.
The contest will be the first game of a home-and-home series between the Mavericks and Golden Gophers that will conclude Sunday, January 19 in Mankato.
"We're extremely excited to be participating in the 2014 Hockey City Classic. We anticipate this truly will be a unique event given the fact it's a game being played at a terrific venue, such as TCF Bank, and undoubtedly our student-athletes will be thrilled," said MSU head coach
Eric Means. "We're looking forward to the Mavericks playing the University of Minnesota outdoors in The State of Hockey in January."
The 2014 Hockey City Classic will also feature a men's game between the University of Minnesota and Ohio State at 8 p.m., and will be a part of a Winter Festival, which will consist of a variety of events, including youth, high school and adult hockey events, private ice rentals, a public skate and much more.

MSU opens the 2013-14 season at home against Mercyhurst Friday, September 27 at All Seasons Arena with the drop of the puck set for 6:07 p.m.
