Stevens Point, Wis. – The Minnesota State women’s swimming and diving team finished fourth in the two-day long Border Battle hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The Mavericks totaled 660 points in the event, while UW-Milwaukee won the event with 976 points.
Individually, senior Angela Krych won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.59, while sophomore Emily Timmwon the 100-yard fly with a time of 1:00.87.
Other Mavericks turning in top-five finishes include freshman Marissa Reeve who finished fifth in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:53.40 and fifth in the 1,650-yard freestyle with a time of 18:38.31. Junior Kim Christensen turned in a fifth-place finish in the 100-yard freestyle, touching in :55.64, while Timm was fourth in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:19.75.
In the relays, MSU finished third in the 200-yard medley relay with a time of 1:50.30. That relay team consisted of Krych, sophomore Kaitlin Ogden, Timm and Christensen. The 400-yard freestyle relay finished fifth with a time of 3:44.60. That relay team was made up of Krych, sophomore Stefanie Edwards, Timm and junior Kristin Hayes.
On the diving board, junior Janel Duffy won the three-meter dive with a score of 388.05.
Minnesota State hosts St. Cloud State next weekend. The diving portion of the meet will take Friday night, while the swimming portion of the meet will commence on Saturday.
