1987 MSU Football - Hall of Fame (team category)
This was the first football team from MSU to win at least seven games (the Mavericks were 9-3 in 1987), the first football team to win the North Central Conference title (the Mavericks went 8-1 in NCC games), the first MSU football team to ever to be ranked in the NCAA Top Twenty Poll, the first football team ever to rush for more than 3,000 yards in a season and the first football team to play in the NCAA postseason...The Mavericks, who spent seven weeks in the NCAA Division II Top Twenty polls and entered the postseason rated seventh, finished the regular season by winning five consecutive games before facing Portland State in the NCAA quarterfinals (only eight teams made the postseason at the time)...Senior guard
