Won NCAA College Division national championship...Had eight All– Americans – Mike McNamara (2nd), Howard Gangestad (1st), Doug Ebling (4th), John Alexis (6th), Al Russ (2nd), Gary Storm (2nd), Mike Pierro (6th) and Bob Wendel (4th).  John Lewison and Dave Holmquist also contributed to national championship effort as MSU claimed title by one point over Cal. Poly – San Luis Obispo...Coached by MSU Hall of Distinction member and wrestling icon Rummy Macias.
