Athletic Development
The Minnesota State Department of Intercollegiate Athletics strives to provide our teams and individuals with the opportunity to succeed at the highest level of competition. The difference between good and great will depend in part upon the financial support given to MSU Athletics. To achieve greatness we need help from our alumni and friends.

MSU Athletic Development provides you with an opportunity to support our programs in the following areas:
Annual Giving
An annual gift is an expendable, annual contribution to Minnesota State Athletics. Annual gifts truly make a difference in the lives of our fine young men and women. Gifts by currency or personal check immediately benefit the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics and are the easiest and most direct way to give, however pledges can also be made in support of any of the athletic programs.
2015 - 2016 Cost for a Student-Athlete to Attend Minnesota State
Tuition and Fees: $7,840
Room & Board: $7,075
Total: $14,915
Corporate Matching Gifts
Matching gifts are an easy way for donors to double and even triple the impact of their annual gift. If you or a spouse's employer is a matching gift company, just ask your human resources office for a matching gift form.
Endowments
An endowment is the time-honored method of allocating certain gifts to an investment fund. This fund is invested to earn income each year. As the principal grows, so does the income. The fund is used to support student-athlete scholarships, however the principal always remains invested in order to grow the fund.
When you make a gift to our endowment fund, it can be an outright gift or deferred. Your gift can turn into a legacy of annual gifts for Minnesota State student-athletes. You may make a gift to an already existing endowment or start one of your own. An endowment is a powerful way to support a gift to Minnesota State Athletics in your name, or in the name of a loved one, while also gaining tax benefits for your generosity.

Planned Giving
Planned gifts provide for tomorrow's Minnesota State and sometimes benefit the donor during their lifetime. Types of planned gifts include bequests, life income arrangements, charitable gift annuities, deferred gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts, real estate with retained life use, and charitable life trusts. Members of MSU's development staff work with donors' legal and financial professionals to create estate plans that provide maximum benefit to the donor and the University.
Donors who have included MSU in their wills or estate plans are invited to join MSU Heritage, an honorary giving society.
Securities
Gifts of appreciated securities to Minnesota State provide the donor with income tax deductions based on the appreciated value of the stock as long as the donor has held the stock for at least 12 months and 1 day. The owner pays no capital gains tax on gifts of stock to MSU.
Gifts-In-Kind
Gifts-in-kind are non-monetary items of tangible personal property or other physical assets that represent value to the University. Examples might include: equipment, silent auction items, artwork.
Your gift-in-kind is a tax-deductible gift.
