Mankato, Minn. --- With the conference championships complete, eight members of the Minnesota State men's track and field program will shift their attention towards the national championships next week.
Sophomore
Elijah Calderon-Pitchford will make his first trip to nationals to compete in the triple jump. His leap of 49'5" currently ranks as the nineteenth best mark in division II this season.
Senior
Alex Campbell will make his second appearance in the NCAA DII outdoor track and field championships. His top mark of 6'10.75" is the fourteenth best in division II going into the championship.
Junior
Morris Dennis will make his first trip the outdoor track and field championship after competing and earning All-American honors at the Indoor national championship this year. He will be part of a relay team in the 4x400m that posted the eleventh best time in DII of 3:11.75.
Junior
Isaiah Pitchford will make his first trip the outdoor track and field championship after competing and earning All-American honors at the Indoor national championship this year. He is also a member of the 4x400m relay team.
Junior
Michael Sandle, the defending national champion in DII for both the indoor and outdoor triple jump, will look to defend his title. His school record leap of 53'3.5" is the top mark in the nation and he will also compete in the high jump, where his top jump of 6'10.75", ranks as the fourteenth best mark.
Sophomore
John Schuster will make his first appearance in the outdoor national championships after earning All-American honors earlier this year in the indoor national championship. Schuster will compete as a member of the 4x400m relay team as well as the 400m dash where his time of 47.30 is the nineteenth best time in DII.
Senior
Jovonte' Suber will make his first trip to nationals as a member of the 4x400m relay team.
Sophomore
Mitchell Valli will attend his first outdoor national championships after earning All-American honors in the pole vault during the indoor season. His top clear of 16'7.25 ranks as the eleventh best in DII.
The Mavericks will be sending these athletes to Bradenton, Florida for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championship May 25th through may 27th.
