Maryville, MO.--- The Minnesota State men's track and field team took first place with a final score of 212 points in the MIAA Vs. NSIC Showdown hosted by the Northwest Missouri State University starting Thursday and ending Saturday.
The team of
Reid Diamond,
Tanner Ogren,
Vance Barnes, and
Paul Selman finished first in the 4x100-meter relay with a provisional qualifying time of 41.01. In the 4x400-meter relay the team of
John Schuster,
Jovonte' Suber,
Morris Dennis, and
Isaiah Pitchford finished first with a time of 3:16.44.
Ben Ojika (14.42) finished second in the 110-meter hurdles and
Anyah Nutter (15.30) finished seventh. In the 400-meter hurdles
Leroy Kwateh (57.06) finished fourth and
Cam Crosser (59.40) finished eighth.
In the 100-meter dash
Selman (10.58) finished second,
Ogren (10.77) finished fourth,
Parker Gloudemans (10.85) finished fifth., and
Justin Taormina (11.07) finished eighth.
Selman (21.59) finished third in the 200-meter dash and
Gloudemans (21.76) finished fifth. Mavericks took five of the top six spots in the 400-meter dash as
John Schuster (47.30), who set a new school record, and
Dennis (47.61) each met provisional qualifying standards.
Pichford (48.00),
Suber (48.21), and
Dalton Bialke (48.54) finished third fourth and sixth. In the 1500-meter run
Austin Pasch (3:56.04) and
Austin Yardley (3:59.98) finished fifth and sixth.
In the decathlon
Nutter finished third with 5782 points and
Calvin Buesgens finished fourth with 5770.
Sam Udermann finished first in the hammer throw with a provisional qualifying throw of 179'6" and
Bryan Caffin finished seventh with a throw of 155'2". In the long jump,
Alex Campbell finished second with a leap of 23'8".
Caffin placed fourth in the shot put with a top throw of 51'3" and
Connor McCormick finished eighth with a throw of 47'5.25". In the javelin throw
Buesgens finished seventh with a top mark of 142'10".
Udermann finished third in the discus throw with a top distance of 154'9".
Jeff DeCock and
Campbell finished tied for first in the high jump with a provisional qualifying mark of 6'9" and
Ojika (6'6.75"),
Jack Curtis (6'4.75"), and
Logan Bristol (6'2.75) finished sixth seventh and eighth. In the triple jump
Elijah Calderon-Pitchford (48'7.50"),
London Thurman (47'10") and
Ojika (43'7.25") finished first second and fifth.
Mitchell Valli finished first in the pole vault with a provisional qualifying clear of 16'7.25",
Kyle Johnson (14'7.50) finished sixth, and
Kyle Johnson (14'7.50") finished eighth.
Minnesota State will continue next Thursday in California to compete in the Cal State LA Twilight and will compete Friday in the MT. Sac Invite, also held in California.
