MANKATO, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's track and field team hosted the Minnesota State University Open and Multi at Myers Field House Friday and Saturday.
Friday evening started
Sarah Knutson earning eighth place in the weight throw with a distance of 49'7". In the Pole Vault
Erin Neveau jumped 11'3.75 to claim seventh place. The 3000-meter run had
Jaylynn Lauer (11:11.87),
Mariah Betzler (11:38.17), and
Mackenzie Dockendorf (11:39.69) finish eighth, ninth and tenth respectively. In the most exciting moment of the night the team of
Megan Allen,
Amelia Kjos,
Haley Kruger, and
Erin Baker crushed the competition in the distance medley with a final time of 11:58.09, good enough for provisional qualifying and first place.
The success would continue Saturday as
Karlona Gregory (7.63),
Brieanna Puckett (7.72), and
Gabi Gaines (7.77) would claim the top three spots in the 60-meter dash. Gregory's time was also good enough to meet provisional qualifying standards.
Autumn Santos (7.87) and
Sydney Reysack (7.94) also finished fifth and seventh. In the 60-meter hurdles
Carolyn Hackel finished third with a time of 9.02.
Afure Adah continued her great season by taking first place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.92, a provisional qualifying time.
Altoniece Williams earned first place in the 400-meter dash with a time of 58.16.
Taylor Glover finished sixth in the event with a time of 59.97.
In the 600-meter run
Bobbi Patrick finished first with a time of 1:39.03 and
Sophie Simonson finished second with a time of 1:39.49. The Mavericks claimed the top three spots in the 800-meter run led by
Kruger (2:13.22) with
Allen (2:14.07) and
Maddi Sjelin (2:18.46) finishing second and third.
Megan Serratore finished fourth in the 1000-meter run with a time of 3:07.96.
In the one mile run a pair of Mavericks earned new personal best times.
Baker finished in first place with a career best time of 5:06.58 and
Lily Paul placed sixth with a personal best time of 5:22.86.
Paul also competed in the 5000-meter run and finished second with a time of 18:36.70.
The excellent performances continued in the field for Minnesota State as
Brianna Ziolkowski set a new personal best in the high jump with a leap of 5'7.75" to earn first place as well as meet provisional qualifying standards.
Hackel earned second in the high jump with a leap of 5'4.5". To finish the day
Allison Calkins placed eighth in the triple jump with a distance of 33'7.50".
Minnesota State will be home next Saturday for the Ted Nelson Classic, which will be hosted at Myers Field House.
