Mankato, Minn. --- Fundraising that will help facilitate the move of the Minnesota State hockey program to its new headquarters at Verizon Wireless Center this fall took another step forward behind the support of two Mankato families that share a passion for the program.

In a unique collaboration between close personal acquaintances, Dave and Michelle Schooff, along with Jesse and Lindsey Botker have committed a total of $35,000 through an in-kind donation and cash gift to provide furnishings and equipment for new team spaces at Verizon Wireless Center.

"In recent weeks, we have had a number of individuals step up and support us and the positive direction we are moving in is really encouraging," said Maverick men's hockey head coach Mike Hastings. "We certainly appreciate the support and generosity of these two families."

Kevin Buisman, Minnesota State's Director of Athletics, praised the combined effort.  "The Schooff's and Botker's are great supporters of many of the Maverick athletic programs.  I believe they were able to sense some urgency in the timing of this particular fundraising initiative so their cooperation in working together to make this happen is something that we were very happy to see."

"It's great to see all this excitement around Maverick Hockey and Michelle and I were happy to join others in this effort," added Dave Schooff. "We can't wait for the season to get underway."

Jesse Botker echoed Schooff's enthusiasm. "These facility upgrades will play a major role in sustaining the type of success MSU Hockey has been enjoying in recent years and Lindsey and I were proud to be part of supporting this effort.  We hope the coaches and student-athletes will enjoy these amenities for many years to come."
