Hancock Captures NSIC Decathlon Title

Aberdeen, S.D. --- The Minnesota State men's track and field team will enter the NSIC Outdoor Championships with ten points already to their name thanks in part to senior Nathan Hancock (Independence, Mo.).

After sitting with a 160 point lead following day one, Hancock secured the crown Monday afternoon on the campus of Northern State University.

Hancock led the field in the 110-meter hurdles with his time of 15.22. He followed that with a 111'11" toss in the discus. He followed that with 13'1.5" in the pole vault and 145'9" in the javelin. He ended his championship run in the 1500-meters with a final time of 4:40.63, setting a new personal-best.

For Hancock, this is his second-straight decathlon conference title and fourth multi championship including the indoor heptathlon event.

The Mavericks will return to the track Wednesday, as they host the MSU Twilight on campus in Mankato.
