Edelen set a new personal-standard in the discus friday evening.

Multiple Personal-Records Set at Manitou Classic

Northfield, Minn. --- For those student-athletes not travelling to California on the Minnesota State women's track and field team, they took to the track Friday night at the Manitou Track and Field Classic hosted by St. Olaf College.  

The sprint events saw multiple individuals improve on their career marks.  In the 100-meter dash,
McKenna Krause (Chanhassen, Minn.) did just that in the prelims running a time of 12.50.  She would go on to win the event in the finals with a time of 12.61.  Kimmy Wreh (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) followed suit in the 200-meters finishing in 26.37 which was good for second-place.  Bonnie Pickford (Wever, Iowa) andMiranda Schultz (Waconia, Minn.) went first and third, respectively.  Freshman Amelia Kjos (River Falls, Wis.) would keep up with the trend in the 400-meters with her new personal-standard of 1:00.33.  Taylor Naatz (Watertown, Wis.) lead the Mavericks in the event finishing second at 59.77.  

The Maverick effort in the 1500-meters would go much of the same. 
Halee Peterson (Cloquet, Minn.) and Erin Baker (Grand Rapids, Minn.) finished second and third both setting new personal-records of 4:44.01 and 4:44.07, respectively.  Marina Paul (Cedar Grove, Wis.) finished second in the 5000-meters at 19:47.43.  Senior Samantha Soupir (Omaha, Neb.) saw similar results in the 3000-meter steeplechase with her posting of 11:37.69.  Rounding out the track events was Kellie Wong (Ankeny, Iowa) taking fourth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.86.

The field events saw a pair of individuals post career-days as well.  Sophomore
Emma Edelen (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) took home the crown in the discus event with her personal-record toss of 136'1".  Sarah Knutson (Eagan, Minn.) also set a personal-record with her fourth-place throw of 112'9".  Edelen would go on to post two other top-five finishes on the evening with a first-place effort in the shot put at 37'0.5" and fifth in the hammer at 127'4".

Junior
Kayla Lindell (Cold Spring, Minn.) grabbed first in the high jump with her leap of 5'3".  Senior Laura Chopp (Monroe, Wis.) led the Maverick charge in the pole vault finishing third at 10'.  Paige Clements (North Oaks, Minn.) was right behind in fourth at 9'6.25".  Allison Calkins (Janesville, Wis.) finished up the events in Northfield with a fourth-place posting in the triple jump at 34'.

The attention will switch back to California as the Mavericks will be back in action tonight, April 18th at the Beach Invitational, in Long Beach, Calif.
