MANKATO, Minn. --- A combined effort guided the MSU women's track and field team at the annual Ted Nelson Classic.
In the 60-meter dash, four Mavericks would occupy the eight five positions going first and third through fifth. Senior Sid'Reshia Floyd led the entire field with a final time of 7.82. Karlona Gregory (Minneapolis, Minn.), Briana Holt (Maryland Heights, Mo.)and Rachel Lindquist (Blaine, Minn.) rounded out the Maverick charge. The 60-meter hurdles was more of the same with junior Brooke Foreman (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) finishing first with a career-best 8.92. Jenni Vanttinen (Helsinki, Finland) followed right behind in second with freshman Kellie Wong (Ankeny, Iowa) in fourth.
The 200-meters saw much of the same with Brieanna Puckett (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) leading a group of Mavericks in second-place at 25.50. Mackenzie Beals (Marshalltown, Iowa), Holt and Gregory rounded out the top-five. In the 400-meters, it was a pair of freshman guiding the team with Kimmy Wreh (Inver Grove Heights, Minn.)and Amelia Kjos (River Fall, Wis.) coming in at fourth and sixth, respectively.
Sophomore Sarah Giese (Marshall, Wis.) finished the 600-meters in second-place with a time of 1:45.59 with two freshman, Becca O'Hotto (Oak Grove, Minn.) and Brooke Jones (Waterloo, Iowa), right behind. Yet another freshman would shine in the 800-meters with Megan Allen (Grand Rapids, Minn.) posting a career day with a time of 2:17.79 and sophomore Maddi Sjelin (St. Michael, Minn.) not far behind at 2:26.16.
Senior Halee Peterson (Cloquet, Minn.) crossed the line at 3:06.04 for the 1000-meters, which put her in fourth-place. The mile would see freshman Erica Hauf (Sabin, Minn.) post the best time of her career at 5:22.09. Fellow freshman Mariah Betzler (Elk River, Minn.) followed up with a personal record of her own of 5:45.12. Keeping the freshman-powered day moving, Erin Baker (Grand Rapids, Minn.) finished second for the 3000-meters with a time of 10:35.58. Kimberly Allan (Flagstaff, Ariz.) and Jaden Roddick (Sparta, Wis.) finished in fourth and fifth, respectively.
In the team relays, Madison Alexander (Sheldon, Minn.), Bonnie Pickford (Wever, Iowa), Wreh and Kjos came out on top in an exciting finish during the 4x400 with a final time of 3:59.15. The distance medley team, comprised of Peterson, Pickford, Sjelin and Baker also had a good day, crossing the line in third at 12:21.09.
In the field events, success continued to run the day. Three Mavericks, led by senior Amanda Stangler (St. Cloud, Minn.), went second through fourth in the high jump. The pole vault saw much of the same with junior Faryn Wirkus (Edgar, Wis.) leading the field at 11'11.75". Nicole Larson (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Bryanna Sudman (Eden Prairie, Minn) came right behind in second and third, respectively. Sophomore sensation Brieanna Puckett won the long jump crown at 18'10.75" and senior Anna Veroeven (North Mankato, Minn.)matched that finish with a first-place title of her own in the triple jump at 39'2.25".
Sophomore Emma Edelen (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) rounded out the field events finishing fifth in the weight throw with a toss of 45'3.5".

The Mavericks will hit the road next weekend as they are set to take part in the SDSU Indoor Invitational, held in Brookings S.D.
