BROOKINGS, S.D. --- The Minnesota State women's track and field team returned to action at day one of the SDSU Indoor Invitiational.
Sophomore Brieanna Puckett (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led the Maverick effort in the 200-meters finishing in a time of 25.64, which finished her tied four 16th-place. The 600-meters saw fellow sophomore Maddi Sjelin (St. Michael, Minn.) post a career-day running it in 1:36.58, which was a ninth-place finish.
Senior Halee Peterson (Cloquet, Minn.) posted a career-best of her own in the 1000-meters, finishing in 3:01.80. Freshman Erica Hauf (Sabin, Minn.) would follow suit setting a new personal record in the 3000-meters at 10:36.32. A pair of Mavericks would also improve their career performances in the 5000-meters as both freshman Erin Baker (Grand Rapids, Minn.) and senior Marina Paul (Cedar Grove, Wis.) crossed with final times of 18:33.11 and 18:42.54, respectively.
Puckett was the lone Maverick to compete in the long jump event, and walked away with a fifth-place finish following a lunge of 18'5.75". The high jump gave MSU yet another top-five finish with Brianna Ziolkowski (Hatley, Wis.) coming in fourth after a leap of 5'4.25".
