Mankato, Minn. ---  Minnesota State senior forward Teddy Blueger has been named Western Collegiate Hockey Association Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in two wins over Alaska Anchorage last weekend.

The Riga, Latvia native
had a goal and four assists (with 6 shots on goal, +2, .781 face-off winning percentage with 25 face-off wins in 32 attempts) in the sweep over the Seawolves.

While he didn't record a point in Friday's win, he did have three shots on goal and won five face-offs in the 2-0 victory.  He then erupted for five points on a goal and four assists with a hand in all five goals as the Mavericks jumped out to a 5-0 first-period lead in Saturday's 6-2 triumph.

The five points in a game by Blueger is the first time a Maverick player has accomplished the feat since Nov. 20, 2009 (Jerad Stewart had four goals and an assist in a win at Alaska Anchorage) and marks the first time a Maverick player has had five points in a period in the school's NCAA DI history.  His goal in the game stood up as the game-winner and his three game-winning goals this year are tied for second in the country.  Blueger stands atop the Minnesota State scoring charts with four goals and eight assists for 12 points in 16 games played this year.

Minnesota State, which has gone 8-2-2 in its last 12 games and stands 8-6-2 overall, continues league play this Friday and Saturday with a couple of WCHA games at Bowling Green
