Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State freshman goaltender
Jason Pawloski has been named
Western Collegiate Hockey Association Rookie of the Week for his performance in two wins last weekend.
Pawloski, an Omaha, Neb., native, backstopped the Mavericks to a two-game home league sweep over Alaska Anchorage with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals against average and a .947 save percentage in a pair of games played at Verizon Wireless Center.
The first-year netminder stopped all 12 shots he faced in Friday's game, a 2-0 victory, in registering his first career shut-out. He then had 24 saves in Saturday's 6-2 triumph and for the weekend helped keep the Seawolves scoreless in seven power play opportunities.
For the season he owns a 5-0-2 record with a 1.73 goals against average and a .902 save percentage. He is one of five freshmen in the country with at least five wins and he leads all freshmen goaltenders in the nation in goals against average and his .857 winning percentage ranks second.
The Mavericks, who stand 8-6-2 on the year, continue WCHA action with a two-game road series at Bowling Green this Friday and Saturday.
