Mankato, Minn. --- Following a weekend sweep over Lake Superior State, the Minnesota State men's hockey program is rated #1 in the nation according to a poll released this morning by USCHO.com.

The Mavericks, who stand 16-4-1 overall and have gone 11-1-1 in their last 13 games, were rated fourth by USCHO last week.  This week's ranking marks the first time Minnesota State has been rated #1 in the history of the program.

Minnesota State now has three programs this year that have been rated #1 in their respective sports with men's hockey joining women's soccer and football with that distinction. And men's hockey joins five other programs that have been ranked No. 1 in the nation in the history of Minnesota State Athletics - football (final five weeks of 2014 and final six weeks of 2013) men's basketball (Feb. 1, 2005), wrestling (twice in 2007-08 season), women's basketball (three times in 2008-09 season) and soccer (Oct. 16, 2012 and five consecutive weeks in 2014).

Minnesota State continues Western Collegiate Hockey Association action this Friday and Saturday with a pair of road contests at Ferris State.
