Brett Stern have been named captains for the 2014-15 Maverick men's hockey team.
Named alternate captains are senior defenseman
Zach Palmquist and sophomore defenseman
Carter Foguth.
Grant, a three-year letterwinner from Oklahoma City, Okla., has 24 goals and 32 assists for 56 points in 119 career games. He served as an alternate captain as a junior in 2013-14.
Stern, a three-year letterwinner from Lino Lakes, Minn., who was an alternate captain in 2013-14, has three goals and 13 assists for 16 points in 97 career games with the Mavericks.
A
First Team All-WCHA pick in 2013-14, Palmquist has 17 goals and 50 assists for 67 points in 120 games played. The South St. Paul, Minn., native has not missed a game in his three-year Minnesota State career.
Foguth, a Fenton, Mich., native, had 0-2--2 iin 32 games as a freshman in 2013-14.
Minnesota State, which posted a 26-14-1 mark in 2013-14, entertains Trinity Western (B.C.) in a home exhibition game Oct. 5 at 5:07 p.m. at Verizon Wireless Center in its first action of 2014-15.
