Mavericks Unveil 2014-15 Schedule

             Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State men's hockey team is slated to play 18 home games in 2014-15 as the University formally announced its schedule today.

The schedule features ten home contests prior to the end of December and eight home games in the second half of the schedule. The school also announced that all home games in 2014-15 will have a 7:07 p.m. face-off.
    
Following an exhibition game vs. a to-be-determined opponent, MSU begins regular-season action with a nonconference road series at Nebraska Omaha (Oct. 10-11).  The Mavericks then play a home-and-home nonconference series with Minnesota Duluth Oct. 17-18. The games in Mankato Oct. 18 vs. UMD will feature MSU's "Hockey Night in Mankato."

The Oct. 24-25 weekend marks the start of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association schedule with Alabama-Huntsville visiting Verizon Wireless Center. Conference action continues the following weekend with a  two-game set at Bowling Green (Oct. 31-Nov. 1) before a home series with in-state rival Bemidji State Nov. 7-8.

A pair of league road trips, with MSU travelling to Michigan Tech Nov. 21-22 and Lake Superior State Nov. 28-29, serve as precursors to a home WCHA series vs. Alaska Dec. 5-6 and a nonconference set with ECAC-member Princeton Dec. 12-13 rounding out the pre-Christmas schedule.

The Mavericks start the New Year with back-to-back WCHA home weekends with Northern Michigan visiting the Key City Jan. 2-3 and Lake Superior State making the trek Jan. 9-10.

A trip to Big Rapids, Mich., for a two-game league series at Ferris State Jan. 16-17 looms prior to the North Star College Cup at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., Jan. 23-24. The Mavericks are scheduled to play 2013-14 national finalist Minnesota Jan. 23 in the first day of the Cup. The other two teams in the tournament are Minnesota Duluth and Bemidji State.

The remaining ten games of the schedule are all league games: home vs. Ferris State (Jan. 30-31), home vs. Alaska Anchorage (Feb. 6-7), at Alaska (Feb. 13-14), home vs. Michigan Tech (Feb. 27-28) and at Bemidji State (Mar. 6-7).

In 2013-14 MSU established a school record for wins with a 26-14-1 overall mark, won the Broadmoor Trophy as WCHA tournament champions and made its second  consecutive appearance in the NCAA Division I postseason tournament.
