Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State defenseman Tyler Elbrecht has signed a contract to play professional hockey with Idaho of the East Coast Hockey League.

A four-year letterwinner at Minnesota State, Elbrecht played in 142 career games with the Mavericks from 2009-13 during which he scored three goals and added 24 assists for 27 career points. The Edwardsville, Ill., native owned a career +15 mark and matched his career single-season highs for assists (7) and points (8) in 2012-13. A three-time WCHA All-Academic selection, Elbrecht was a three-time WCHA Scholar-Athlete honoree and was a two-time team captain.
