Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State football team has announced its 2013 schedule which features five home games.
The Mavericks open their season Sept. 7 on the road as they take on the University of Mary, at 1 p.m., before opening their home schedule the following week on Sept. 14 as they host Minnesota, Crookston at 6 p.m.
MSU returns to the road in week three as it takes on Minnesota Duluth Sept. 21, at 6 p.m., before returning home Sept. 28 for its homecoming game against Northern State slated for a 2 p.m., start.
The Mavericks begin play against their Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference South Division rivals in week five as they take on Concordia-St. Paul Oct. 5, at 12 p.m. They return home on Oct. 12 as they take on Augustana at 1 p.m.
Minnesota State plays its last night game on Oct. 19 as it travels to Southwest Minnesota State for a 6 p.m., start. MSU finishes up its home schedule as it hosts Winona State (Oct. 26) and Wayne State (Nov. 2), both of which are scheduled for 1 p.m.
The regular season wraps up as the Mavericks travel to Sioux Falls (Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.) and Upper Iowa (Nov. 16 at 1 p.m.).
All of MSU’s 11 games are scheduled against NSIC opponents. Last season, MSU’s opponents combined for a 59-62 record, with Minnesota Duluth, Winona State, Sioux Falls, Northern State and Wayne State boasting records above .500.
The Mavericks finished the 2012 campaign with a 13-1 record and advanced to the semi-finals of the NCAA Tournament. Minnesota State won the NSIC Conference Championship and was crowned the NSIC South Division champion for the fourth time in the last five seasons.
