Mankato, Minn. --- Men’s hockey coach Mike Hastings has announced that two additional student-athletes have signed NCAA Letters of Intent to attend Minnesota State University.

Forward Jordan Nelson (Williston, N.D./Fargo (USHL)) and defenseman Casey Nelson (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Johnstown (NAHL)) will begin attending Minnesota State in the fall of 2013.

Today’s announcement brings MSU’s recruiting class to six with the two Nelsons (who aren’t related) joining four other student-athletes who inked NLI’s during the early signing period in November in defensemen Sean Flanagan  (Kindersley, Sask./Salmon Arm (BCHL)) and Carter Foguth (Fenton, Mich./Muskegon (USHL)), along with goaltender Cole Huggins (Englewood, Colo./Coquitlam (BCHL)) and forward Mike Huntebrinker (Chesterfield, Mo./Waterloo (USHL)).

Jordan Nelson, Forward, 6-0, 190, Williston, N.D./Fargo (USHL)
Spent the last two seasons with Fargo of United States Hockey League after suiting up for a season with Alexandria (NAHL)...Tallied 17 goals and 16 assists for 33 points and was +10 in 56 games with Fargo in 2012-13... Had 7-11--18 in 53 games with Fargo in 2011-12 and totalled 27-14--41 and was +1 with Alexandria in 2010-11...2010 North Dakota Mr. Hockey award recipient and North Dakota All-State pick as a high school senior.

Casey Nelson, Defense, 6-2, 175, Wisconsin Rapids, Wis./Johnstown (NAHL)
Totalled 10-22--32 in 56 games with Johnstown in 2012-13...Three-year NAHL veteran spent 2010-11 and 2011-12 with Alaska prior to joining Johnstown...Named NAHL Defenseman of the Month for November this year after racking up nine points (3 goals, 6 assists) in seven games helping lead the Tomahawks to a 5-1-1 mark... Played in 2013 NAHL Top Prospects Tournament...Younger brother of Maverick defenseman Josh Nelson.
