1. What made you choose MSU?
JP: The reason I picked MSU was because I was provided an opportunity to play hockey. I liked Mankato because I immediately felt comfortable and at home. I liked that the campus was small yet big at the same time.
2. What are your expectations for the upcoming season?
JP: Our team has high expectations; we have made it a goal to make it to the National Tournament in Salem!
3. Do you have any plans on staying involved with the game once your playing days
are done?
JP: Of course, for the past 3 years I have coached a traveling softball team and I plan on continuing to coach and give back to the game! I hope to continue to play in various adult leagues.
4. Do you have any pregame rituals/routines/superstitions?
JP: I actually don’t have any type of rituals/routines/superstitions.
5. What made you switch over to playing softball for MSU instead of hockey?
JP: When I first came to Mankato, I came to play hockey. I thought I had hung up my cleats and glove for good. After hockey season, I realized how much I missed the game of softball and was fortunate enough to be able to join the team. I played both sports for two years and it was physically a lot to handle and I had to take a break from softball. After playing hockey for 4 years, I still had a strong passion for the game of softball. I was fortunate enough to be given an opportunity to reunite with the softball team for my final year of college.
6. What gets you pumped up before a start?
JP: A good rap song and my teammates. I get pumped up when everyone around me is amped and excited, I just feed off of everyone’s energy.
7. What can you be found doing when it's not softball season?
JP: In the summer, I can be found coaching youth sport camps and my summer softball team. I can also be found spending time with my family in friends! During the school year, you can find me working at all the sporting events because of my internship!
8. What are you planning on doing after you leave MSU?
JP: That is a great question and one I am still searching to find the answer to. I will graduate in the spring with a major in Sport Management with a minor in marketing. I hope to find a job with sports or marketing.
9. What's your favorite thing about softball?
JP: It’s difficult to pick one thing because I enjoy everything about the game. I love the competition and being on the team. I also love that softball is a game of adjustments; there are always new challenges to work at and improve on.
10. How long have you been playing softball?
JP: I have been playing softball since I was 4, so 19 years.
