     Mankato, Minn. --- A pair of Minnesota State men’s hockey players are embarking upon professional careers following the conclusion of their senior seasons with the Mavericks.

Forward Michael Dorr, one of MSU’s captains for 2011-12, has signed a professional contract with South Carolina of the East Coast Hockey League. A native of Roseville, Minn., Dorr was a three-year letterwinner with the Mavericks who tied for fifth on MSU’s scoring charts with 8-11--19 in 36 games as a senior. Dorr totalled 25-36--61 in 98 games in two and half years with the Mavericks.

Forward Joe Schiller, an alternate captain as a senior, signed a professional contract with Las Vegas of the East Coast Hockey League. The Detroit Lakes, Minn., native played both forward and defense for Minnesota State through-out his four-year college career, played in all 38 games this season for the Mavericks and racked up career highs for assists (15) and points (18). Named WCHA All-Academic three times and a three-time WCHA Scholar-Athlete recipient, Schiller was selected to the 2011-12 USCHO.com WCHA All-Unsung Team.
