Thauwald Added to 2011-12 Roster

    Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State men’s hockey coach Troy Jutting has announced that forward Charlie Thauwald has been added to this year’s roster.

Thauwald, a 6-3, 225-lb., native of Rochester, Minn., totalled 12-21--33 and had 140 PIMS in 49 games with Fairbanks of the NAHL in 2010-11 where he helped lead the Icedogs to a Robertson Cup title as league play-off champions. Thauwald split the 2009-10 season between Chicago of the USHL (0-1--1 in 28 GP) and Owatonna of NAHL (4-4--8 in 14 GP). He had 1-2--3 in 23 games as a rookie with Chicago in 2008-09.  The younger brother of former Colorado College forward Scott Thauwald, who played for the Tigers from 2003-08, Thauwald is a Rochester Mayo High School grad.

MSU is scheduled to open the 2011-12 season with an exhibition home game vs. the University of British Columbia Oct. 3.
