Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State tennis coach
Christie Williams has announced the signing of Kelly Lechowski to a national letter of intent to join the Maverick tennis program during the fall of 2012.
All signings are contingent upon admission to MSU and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
Lechowski, a native of Norridge, Ill., posted a 13-2 record last season for Resurrection College Prep. She has been the top singles player for the past four seasons as well as the squads most valuable player. Lechowski is a three-time conference champion and has been named the league’s athlete of the year for the past four years.
"I am thrilled that Kelly will be joining the Maverick tennis team,” said Williams. “Kelly is an accomplished tennis player and has the potential to be a strong competitor within our conference. She also has impressive leadership skills and I look for her to be an enthusiastic, dedicated team leader during her college tennis career.”
Minnesota State opens the 2012 season Feb. 3, against crosstown rival Bethany Lutheran College.
