St. Paul, Minn. — Minnesota State senior punter
Gerard DeWet has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Special Team's Player of the Week for his efforts against Northern Michigan last week.
DeWet, a Utica, Minn., native, pinned the Wildcats deep in their territory last week, placing five punts inside the 20-yardline, four within the 10-yardline and one inside the five. DeWet, who had a long punt of 62 yards, averaged 41.1 yards per punt last week.
Minnesota State (1-0) opens the NSIC portion of its schedule Saturday as it travels to Northern State for a 1 p.m., kickoff.
