Mankato, Minn. --- The Minnesota State women's golf team stands perfect for the opening of the 2010 fall campaign.
The Mavericks finished first in a three-team tournament played in New Ulm Saturday with senior Kathleen Ritter picking up medalist honors by firing a 79 at the par 71 New Ulm Country Club. As a team, MSU’s 332 bested Concordia’s 336 and Southwest Minnesota State’s 344. Sam Bergmann tied for fourth with an 82, Leah Grozdanich tied for sixth at 85 and Lisa Moline was ninth with an 86. Other Mavericks, their scores and finishes included Ally Alm (87, t16th), Amy Harris (86, t16th), Alyssa Kalthoff (88, t17th), Taylor Post (89, t15th), Patti Serdar (93, t20th), Julie Snyders (93, t20th) and Rebekah Schieck (95, t23rd).
Then, paced by Lisa Moline's 72, the Mavericks earned a 320-326 dual win over Southwest Minnesota State Sunday, in a match played at the Marshall Country Club.
Alyssa Kalthaoff carded a 79, Bergmann was next with an 80, followed by Rotter (83), Grozdanich (85), Alm (86), Post (87), Serdar (87), Harris (88), Schieck (97) and Snyders (99).
Next action for the Mavericks is the Reiver Fall Classic in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Sept. 9 and 10.
