Lexington, Kentucky -- The Minnesota State volleyball team sits eighteenth after receiving 240 points in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Top-25 preseason poll which was released Wednesday.
MSU is one of five Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference schools ranked in the top-25. Other NSIC schools include #1 Concordia-St. Paul, #9 Minnesota Duluth, #15 Southwest Minnesota State and #17 Wayne State.
The Mavericks are scheduled to open their 2009 season against Hillsdale on September 3 in Big Rapids, Mich. The match is the first of four matches for Minnesota State in the Ferris State Tournament.
The Mavericks finished 2009 with a 26-7 overall record and 16-4 in the NSIC.
