St. Paul, Minn. --- The Minnesota State volleyball team was picked third in the 2010 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Preseason Coaches Poll which was released Thursday.
The Mavericks earned 12 points and one first-place vote and trail Concordia (166 points, 11 first-place votes) and Minnesota Duluth (147 points, 2 first-place votes).
The 2010 season marks Minnesota State's third season in the NSIC and this also marks the third year that the Mavericks have been picked to finish third in the preseason poll.
Minnesota State opens practice for the 2010 campaign Monday at 2:30 p.m., in Schellburg Gymnasium on the campus of Minnesota State University. The 2010 season starts Sept. 3, when the Mavericks travel to Big Rapids, Mich., to play Hillsdale in the Ferris State tournament.
