1/30/2010 4:12:15 PM

Mankato, Minn. – After back-to-back conference losses, Minnesota State bounced back and dominated the University of Mary Saturday, winning eight of ten matches en route to a 36-12 NSIC win. The Mavericks racked up bonus points in five of those eight wins, improving to 7-3-0 on the season and 2-2-0 in conference action.

Junior All-American Andy Forstner (Madelia, Minn.) started a three-match Maverick run at 125 with a dominating 14-3 major decision to give the hosts a 4-0 lead. Sophomore Brian Reisenauer (Fargo, N.D.), bumping up from 125 pounds, picked up a big win at 133, using a five-point throw in the second period to cruise to an 11-6 decision. Freshman Robby Fisher (Bloomington, Minn.) pushed the Maverick advantage to 13-0, amassing a 16-4 lead in his 141-pound bout before scoring a fall at 5:47.

The Marauders got on the board with a fall at 149 pounds but the Mavericks stormed back with four straight wins from 157 to 184. Senior Darren Olsen (Davis, Ill.) picked up his 14th win of the season by a score of 6-2 at 157, securing nearfall points and riding time in the third period to pull away. At 165 pounds, sophomore Tel Todd (Bozeman, Mont.) scored a third-period takedown to tie the match but turned that takedown into his first fall of the season at 6:08. Eighth-ranked Ben Becker (Fort Dodge, Iowa) followed with his seventh fall of the season at 174 pounds, this one at 4:24. Minnesota State increased the lead to 31-6 with an 8-6 decision at 184 from sophomore Aaron Norgren (Good Thunder, Minn.).

The Marauders were able to secure a pin at 197 pounds but that was all they would get. In the final match of the matinee, senior Brady Wilson (Faribault, Minn.) pushed his season record to 22-4 with a 20-5 technical fall win to give the dual its final score.

The Mavericks will hit the road the next two Saturdays, beginning with a rematch with top-ranked Nebraska-Omaha on Feb. 5th in Omaha, Neb.
