Former Minnesota State Forward David Backes to Appear on Today Show
Olympic Hopeful in Fourth Year with St. Louis Blues
Colorado Springs, Colo. ---- Former Minnesota State forward David Backes is scheduled to appear on NBC's Today Show Wednesday, November 4 as a part of the 100-day countdown to the Opening Ceremony of the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
In celebration of the upcoming Games, Rockefeller Center in New York City will be transformed into a Winter Sport Festival presented by Hilton Honors, and Olympic and Paralympic athletes will be featured on the "Today" show.
Backes is scheduled to be on the 9 am - 11 am segment of the Today Show which will also feature former Olympians Bill Cleary (1960), Mike Eruzione (1980), Jim Craig (1980), Steve Janaszak (1980) along with Backes, who is a candidate for the U.S. men's hockey team.
A Blaine, Minn., native, Backes played for the Mavericks from 2003-06 and amassed 46 goals and 73 assists for 119 points in 115 games. Backes is in his fourth season with the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League.
